Cooking Recipes
Can someone tell me how to transfer all my cooking recipes to my computer ?

I have alot of cook books and wrote down my favorite recipes.I have alot of old recipes that have been passed down in the family.Also have alot of clippings recipes.It takes up alot of room.I want to transfer all of them to my computer.Is this possible without having to buy some sort of program ?Its my first computer and I’m still learning.Thank you to all answers in advance.

I set up a file in My Documents titled Recipes. Then I put sub folders for each of the main categories, such as Appetizers & Dips, Breads, Beef, Beans, Chicken, Casseroles, etc. Use whatever main categories you want. Then, in these folders, I may have other folders, such as in Seafood, I have a folder for each of fish, crawfish, shrimp, and oysters. For existing recipes, you can scan them in using a pdf file. For new recipes you can type them in Word. I get alot of my recipes from the internet and usually just copy and paste them into a Word document. I actually bought a program called Recipe Manager and I did not like it at all. I found it very difficult to use. I like my system much better. Also, be sure to back them up in some way, such as with a flash drive or an external hard drive.
