Its only September and I already have a cold!
How can I stay healthy during the fall/winter?
I’m a vegetarian if that helps
i just need some tips and facts
thanks
As a vegetarian, it is extra important for you to focus on getting enough protein, iron, and B vitamins in your diet. If you are lacking in any of these, it can compromise your immune system and make you more prone to catching whatever is going around.
B vitamins are particularly important for immunity, and protein helps to rebuild cells, including the T-cells that fight off bacterial and viral invaders in your body. Without enough strong T cells, you will get sick more easily, and get hit harder by the infection when it comes. Iron helps your red blood cells carry oxygen throughout your body, and a properly oxygenated body is one that functions better, and therefore fights off disease more effectively.
If you aren’t already, start taking a “complete” daily multivitamin. Some vitamins aren’t complete, meaning they don’t have 100% of all of your essential vitamins and minerals. Make sure the one you’re taking has 100% of your recommended daily intake of all your major vitamins and minerals, including iron. Iron deficiency is a common health issue for vegetarian women, so make sure you’re getting enough by taking the vitamin.
Another good idea is to start taking probiotics. Much of your immune system is located in your gastrointestinal tract (primarily stomach and small intestine) so when you strengthen your GI tract, you strengthen your overall immune system. Probiotics are good gut bacteria, the kind that helps to aid digestion and kill invaders that enter your body through your mouth (like for example, if you touch something with a virus on it and then touch your mouth, which many of us do without even paying attention to the action). Aside from supplements, you can also get probiotics by eating yogurt daily, especially yogurt that has been fortified with probiotics (although they occur naturally in the product anyway).
Finally, you have to be vigilant about washing your hands. Hand sanitizer is fine to use too, as long as it is alcohol based. You can buy a 99 cent bottle of Purell for your purse or backpack and use it throughout the day when you don’t have access to soap and water. You should wash your hands always after you use the bathroom (that seems like a given but you’d be disgusted by the statistics on how few people actually wash their hands in public restrooms), before you touch any food you’re going to eat, and periodically throughout the day just for good measure.
Particularly if you are like me and have a tendency to chew on your fingers, touch your lips/face constantly, or rub your eyes, you really want to make sure you are keeping your hands clean so you don’t transfer bacteria and viruses from surfaces, to your hands, to your mouth and eyes which allows them to get into your body.
Other things you can do are to make sure you are getting enough sleep at night (between 7-9 hours is best), eating a complete diet with enough fruits and veggies, whole grains, dairy, and protein, and doing your best to keep your hands clean and not swap germs with your friends (things like using their chapstick, drinking from their drink, etc.) Even if they don’t seem sick, they could be incubating a virus and could be on their way to getting sick, so it’s better to just buy your own drink.
Good luck!

Contraband $4.98 Scott Weiland. Slash. Duff McKagen. Matt Sorum. It doesn’t seem like a good idea to put these people in a room together, let alone a band. But it was the same exact explosive element of danger and low I.Q. scores that made both of these players’ former groups–Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N’ Roses–sell billions, so why stand in their way? The music on Contraband sounds appropriately monumental, a… |

Winter Count $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Winter counts are pictorial calendars or histories in which tribal records and events were recorded. The Blackfeet, Mandan, Kiowa, Lakota, and other Plains tribes used winter counts extensively. There are approximately one hundred winter counts in existence, but many of these are duplicates. Most winter counts have a single pictograph symbolizing each year, based on the most memorable event of that year. For Lakota people, years ran from first snow fall to first snowfall. Kiowa winter counts usually feature two marks per year one for winter and one marking the summer Sun Dance. The glyphs representing significant events would be used as a reference that could be consulted regarding the order of the years. More extensive oral histories were passed down using the winter counts as guide posts.
