Can your state take your refund from your federal taxes?
I have a friend who moved to Texas from Maryland. He has Maryland tags on his car. He let the insurance lapse on his car for a year. He says he will just apply for a Texas license and get new tags on the car. Will Maryland come after him? Can they get their money from his federal tax refund? My sister says the state cannot touch your federal taxes. Is this true?
Maryland will suspend his license so he won’t be able to get a Texas license until he pays a fine…probably 30 bucks or so.
